Sahara Desert Snow

It snowed in northern Africa this week. Actually, it snowed in the Sahara Desert this week

Snow fell outside of Ain Sefra, Algeria earlier this week. Typically, when you think of the Saharan Desert, you think extreme heat. This area can easily see some of the warmest temperatures on the planet. But, on the other hand, winter nights can cool into the 30s. Snow fell in a similar region of Algeria in 2017 for the first time in over 35 years.

The meteorological service of Algeria called the event “special”.
